Leighton Art Centre Christmas In The Country

I am thrilled this year to be participating in the Leighton Art Centre’s Annual Christmas In The Country Art Sale 2020. Nov 5th- Dec 23rd!

Local artists will be featured in the galleries of the historic Leighton home and on their online shopping site this November and December. Just in time to get a head start on your Christmas shopping and getting into the Christmas spirit. Beautiful decorations, gorgeous art, and the home’s historic ambiance combine to make visiting in person a memorable part of your family’s season.

There will be over 100 talented artists participating in this annual show and you now have the option to SHOP FROM HOME (shop.leightoncentre.org reopens on November 5th) – gallery pickups and Canadian shipping available!

Free parking and free admission (donations gratefully accepted). Spectacular Rocky Mountain views included! COVID-19 safety measures will be in place. Come with your own mask and be prepared to wait outside if we reach capacity in the house.

For 2020, we are staying open on Sundays right up until December 20th, to give our visitors more opportunities to come in person, while still ensuring social distancing in the house.

Also new this year: reserved Early Bird Shopping! Avoid the chance of having to line up outside by purchasing a $10 ticket (1 per person, max 4 per order) in advance for a 9 – 10 am shopping slot on any Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday morning between November 5th & 15th. Just 20 tickets are available for each of those nine mornings, which is equivalent to the current capacity of the house. Early Bird Tickets

Christmas in the Country takes place (in person) November 5 – December 23, 2020, Wednesday – Sunday 10am – 4pm. Online shopping is 24/7 between Nov. 5th & Dec. 23rd.

Frequently asked questions

If I shop online, how can I get my purchase? We’ll be offering the following options: • Pick up at the Gallery Shop (including contactless outdoor pickup if you prefer) – FREE, available Wednesday – Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm through December 23rd. • Local delivery in Calgary and also to rural communities within 30 kilometers of Leighton Art Centre – $25 per order • Canada Post shipping within Canada (we’re not currently shipping ceramics or glass) – prices vary depending on the size of the piece(s) you are purchasing.

For in person shopping, what are your COVID-19 safety measures? These are the key points: • 20 visitors in the house at once, with only 5 in the Gallery Shop (we’ll have an extra cashier station set up elsewhere in the house) • entrance and exit are one-way • all visitors must wear masks and sanitize their hands on the way into the building • additional hand sanitizer will be stationed throughout the house • guests are asked to maintain social distancing when inside • staff and volunteers will be performing frequent cleaning of high touch points When there are 20 people in the house, arriving guests will be asked to wait in line outside. Please wear your mask when in line and remember to dress for the weather. We’ll invite you in as soon as we can!

What’s your washroom situation for this sale? Guests will have use of two porta-potties located in our top parking lot next to the house. Hand sanitizer will be available at the porta-potties.

If I see a piece online that I like, can I come to see it in person before I decide? Yes! Provided that the piece hasn’t sold by the time you arrive (sorry, no holds during this sale), you can ask a staff member when you arrive and we’ll happily bring the piece up from storage to show you.

Do you have cutoff dates for delivery or shipping online purchases? If you’re shipping your order (within Canada only; ceramics and glass are not available for shipping), please order ASAP to increase your chances of getting it in time for holiday gift giving. Due to the increased pressures on Canada Post in 2020, we do not have a firm cutoff date for shipping and cannot guarantee arrival by a particular date. But we promise to do our best!

If you want your order to hit the mail or be delivered locally before we start our Christmas break on December 24th, you must place your order no later than December 20th.

If you order after December 20th, local delivery will no longer be an option and your purchase won’t be mailed until after our return to work on January 4, 2021.
